ITC Great Plains completed construction and placed its new Saddle Substation into service in October 2021. This 345 kV substation is located in southwest Kansas and interconnects the Iron Star Wind farm, a 299MW wind development, to the power grid.

The Saddle Substation project is an example of ITC Great Plains’ ongoing commitment to the operational efficiency and reliability of Kansas’ high-voltage transmission grid. These investments are improving the reliability and safety of the transmission infrastructure while ensuring its ability to meet new energy demands.
