MONROE IMPROVEMENTS

Monroe Area System Improvements

ITC Michigan is committed to serving customers and communities by providing safe, secure, reliable electricity transmission service to meet their needs.

In Monroe County, ITC is planning transmission system improvements including a new, double circuit 120,000 volt (120kV) transmission line between the Monroe Power Plant and ITC’s existing Custer-Whiting 120kV transmission line.

The new line would originate at the Monroe Power Plant, approximately 40 miles southwest of Detroit on Lake Erie. Construction is expected to begin in Q3 2022 and be complete by the end of that year, These infrastructure improvements support the overall reliability and capacity of the grid, as well as various generator retirements and additions in southeast Michigan.
