TOPEKA, Kan. (April 7, 2020) – As the nation rallies to support the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, ITC Great Plains is committing disaster relief funding to support food charities in its Kansas and Oklahoma footprint.

“ITC Great Plains takes an active role in the communities where our employees live, work and serve,” said ITC Great Plains President Brett Leopold. “During this extraordinary time, there is a critical need across the country for those who are food insecure. Given this tremendous need, we felt it was our company’s responsibility to support organizations that can make a broad and immediate impact in this region. We’re also assessing subsequent funding opportunities to support organizations that provide critical mental health and substance abuse services.”

Food banks, pantries and soup kitchens are reporting a significant increase in demand for their services at a time when many are struggling to secure the supplies and resources needed to survive the national COVID-19 crisis. In its first round of distribution, ITC will provide funding to support the work of the Kansas Food Bank, Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma Southern Branch and Meals on Wheels of Eastern Kansas. Through its Charitable Giving Program, ITC awards grants to qualified nonprofit organizations that deliver charitable services in the communities it serves.
