CAMPBELL – TYLER

Campbell – Tyler Project

ITC Michigan, through its Michigan Electric Transmission Company, LLC (METC) subsidiary, is upgrading electricity transmission infrastructure in west Michigan. METC will build approximately 4 miles of new 345,000 volt (345 kV) transmission line in an existing utility corridor. Additionally, new equipment will be installed in the Campbell and Tyler substations to facilitate the connection of the new line.

Pre-construction vegetation work will begin in the corridor in Q1 2021 to ensure there is no hazardous vegetation that would interfere with the safe and reliable operation of the new transmission line. Substation construction will begin at Tyler in Q2 2021 followed by Campbell in Q1 2022. Line construction will begin in Q2 2021 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2022.

The Campbell – Tyler project is an example of ITC’s ongoing commitment to the operational efficiency and reliability of Michigan’s high-voltage transmission grid. The company has invested $5 billion in capital project maintenance and transmission infrastructure improvements in Michigan since 2003. These investments are improving the reliability and safety of the transmission infrastructure while ensuring its ability to meet new energy demands.
