To support electric reliability in Southeast Michigan, ITC Holdings Corp., through its ITCTransmission subsidiary, will rebuild approximately 1.5 miles of its Baltic - Coventry 120,000 volt (120 kV) transmission line with new double-circuit monopoles, and will construct approximately 1 mile of new 120 kV transmission line to connect it to a new substation named Nitro in Northville Twp. Construction is expected to begin in Q2 2021 and be completed by Q1 2022.
The Nitro transmission project is an example of ITC’s ongoing commitment to the operational efficiency and reliability of Michigan’s high-voltage transmission grid. The company has invested more than $4.7 billion in capital project maintenance and transmission infrastructure improvements in Michigan since 2003. These investments are improving the reliability and safety of the transmission infrastructure while ensuring its ability to meet new energy demands.
