REPAIR WORK TO CLOSE SECTION OF CEDAR LAKE TRAIL JUNE 23

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Repair Work to Close Section of Cedar Lake Trail June 23

Cedar Rapids, Iowa – June 16, 2014 – A portion of the Cedar Lake trail in downtown Cedar Rapids will be closed beginning June 23 for a period of at least two weeks to allow contractors to make repairs to the trail. The work will repair damage to the trail done when ITC Midwest LLC (ITC) performed maintenance in January on an electric transmission line that runs along the trail.

The repairs will include laying new asphalt and making repairs to existing asphalt along the side of the trail west of Cedar Lake. The east side of the trail will remain open, allowing bicyclists, walkers and runners continued north-south access via Shaver Road NE.

ITC estimates the work likely will require the trail to be closed through July 4, 2014, but the trail will be opened sooner if the work can be completed prior to that time.
