ITC FURTHERS COMMITMENT TO HABITAT WITH $15,000 GRANT AND VOLUNTEER EFFORT FRIDAY AFTERNOON

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (Sept. 19, 2013) – Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity and ITC Holdings Corp. (ITC) will celebrate the continuation of the organizations’ strong partnership during a “Habitat Happy Hour” Friday, Sept. 20 between 4 and 5 p.m., following an afternoon of sod installation and landscaping at 196 15th Avenue SW in Cedar Rapids. Cedar Valley Habitat is building the home on a formerly flooded lot.

Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity is one of the local organizations that ITC is partnering with this year through its charitable giving program. Through this program, ITC awarded $15,000 to Cedar Valley Habitat to aid in the completion of Habitat’s most recent corporate Hope Builders home. ITC’s volunteer effort this Friday is the latest component of its partnership with Habitat.

“We continue to be impressed and inspired by the great work done by staff and volunteers with Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity,” said Doug Collins, president of ITC Midwest, the ITC operating company based in Cedar Rapids. “It’s particularly gratifying to partner with an organization that shares ITC’s goal of improving the community’s quality of life; ITC works to do that by improving the region’s electric transmission infrastructure, and Habitat for Humanity accomplishes that by building quality homes alongside families in need.”

The grant builds on a long-standing partnership between ITC and Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity. With this grant, the company has contributed more than $150,000 to Habitat for Humanity work since ITC began operations in Iowa in 2007.

“ITC has been a great friend to Habitat! They believe in this community, and they believe that the work we do together makes a difference,” said Jeff Capps, executive director of Cedar Valley Habitat. “For that, we are so thankful. And we are proud and honored to have worked alongside them for the past four years. The support of ITC has been a critical key to our success, as we work to serve more and more area families.”
