    ITC Midwest LLC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of ITC Holdings Corp., the nation’s largest independent electricity transmission company. ITC Midwest operates more than 6,600 circuit miles of transmission lines in Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois and Missouri. The company is headquartered in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and maintains operating locations at Dubuque, Iowa City and Perry, Iowa; and Albert Lea and Lakefield, Minnesota.

  • Multi-Value Projects (MVPs)

    Approved by the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) in December 2011, these 17 electric transmission projects across the upper Midwest will deliver significant reliability and economic benefits throughout the region. ITC Midwest is currently working on 345 kilovolt (kV) line segments that will help form three of those projects: Project 3 in Iowa and Minnesota, Project 4 in Iowa, and Project 5 in Iowa and Wisconsin. ITC segments in Project 3 include the Minnesota-Iowa 345 kV Electric Transmission Project and the Huntley-Ledyard-Kossuth project. Segments in MVP 4 include the Ledyard-Colby, Colby-Killdeer, Killdeer-Hampton Tap, and Black Hawk-Hazleton projects. ITC is partnering with American Transmission Company to propose the Cardinal-Hickory Creek project as part of MVP 5.

  • ITC Donation to Boost e-Book Collection

    ITC has awarded a grant in the amount of $5,000 to the Friends of the Jackson County Library to purchase e-books and digital audio. The addition of new titles of e-books and digital audio will help meet the demand for new titles for the registered borrowers of not only Jackson County, but the entire Plum Creek Regional Library System.

  • ITC Midwest Honored for Environmental Excellence

    ITC Midwest earned the Governor’s Iowa Environmental Excellence Award in recognition of the company’s habitat restoration efforts in its transmission corridors. The Governor’s Iowa Environmental Excellence Awards are the premier environmental honors in Iowa, recognizing leadership and innovation in the protection of Iowa’s natural resources. ITC Midwest’s habitat restoration efforts include targeting invasive species for removal, promoting the establishment of native short woody plants that are naturally compatible with required line clearances, and modifying vegetation management techniques to minimize impacts to rare species.

What's Happening

  • Fall Plantings

    Fall is a great time for tree and grass planting, and ITC Midwest is doing both. The company is sponsoring tree-plantings through its “Right Tree, Right Place” program with Cerro Gordo (Iowa) County Conservation and community programs in Mason City and Wellman, Iowa, and Albert Lea, Minnesota. Working with the city of Cedar Rapids and Linn County Conservation, the company is also planting nearly 60 acres of grasslands on public property under its transmission lines in Linn County, Iowa.
