Hunter's Creek-Robin-Wabash 120 k Upgrade

As part of its commitment to enhance the safety and reliability of the high-voltage transmission grid in Michigan, ITCTransmission is upgrading the Hunter’s Creek-Robin-Wabash 120,000 volt (120 kV) line to provide additional protection from lightning strikes. This line, which crosses southern Lapeer and St. Clair counties, was originally built with one grounded shield wire at the top of each transmission tower. ITC will attach a new steel assembly to the top of each tower to allow the installation of two new shield wires, one on each side of the tower. The double shield wires are more effective in diverting lightning strikes away from the energized conductors, helping reduce the likelihood of outages and equipment damage.
