Today, our nation’s electricity transmission system is governed by an outdated patchwork of local, state and federal regulations. But The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is taking steps to change that.
FERC recently enacted FERC Order No. 1000 - a rule that would accelerate the long overdue modernization of the nation’s electric grid.
FERC Order No. 1000 allows transmission planners to fully consider inter-regional transmission lines and to share the costs of building them if doing so would benefit consumers through increased reliability, lower prices, reduced congestion, and better access to alternative forms of energy.
